Let’s Go See Mother Wilkerson’s Farm: Adventures in Learning Excellence By Earnest Hooks Jr. The Lizzie Wilkerson Foundation A “Cross-Discipline Educational Success”

April 23 10:25 2020

April 22, 2020 Mother Lizzie Wilkinson’s art is now immortalized in an educational book aimed to teach kids and adults alike about the early 20th century farming culture – and said book has been described as a “massive success” in cross-discipline education. Let’s Go See Mother Wilkerson’s Farm: Adventures in Learning Excellence, written by Mr. Earnest Hooks Jr. in collaboration with The Lizzie Wilkerson Foundation, has now made its way to schools and libraries across the country, teaching, through original folk art, the unique vocabulary and fascinating routines that characterized farm living in the beginning of the 20th century.

In addition to Mother Lizzie Wilkinson’s unique artwork, which pairs seamlessly with the retelling of early 20th century farming history, the book features intricate paint-by-number sections, which challenge readers to discover details such as a milk churn, a sausage making machine and a rub board – all distinct elements of an era so often overlooked in traditional educational curriculums.

Mrs. Marva Collins, a pioneer American educator, founder of the famed Westside Preparatory School in Chicago, and a fierce proponent of the Socratic method, wrote in her foreword to Let’s Go See Mother Wilkerson’s FarmAristotle said, “All people by nature desire to know”. This book will allow students to know that words, ideas and images are also inclusive in pictures. (…) Every child should have the opportunity to use this book as a verbal exercise as to what they see, what they fell, and to create stories from the wonderful pictures.”

This is an opportunity to expose children to the farm culture through Niave Art. An adventure in learning through art” wrote Ernest, a reviewer of Let’s Go See Mother Wilkerson’s Farm on amazon.com. “The art-filled book is designed to enhance the “game” of early learning for pre-k children before, during and after the “sponge stage” of growth coupled with excitement and fun.”

Let’s Go See Mother Wilkerson’s Farm: Adventures in Learning Excellence is available in softback, e-book, and Apple voiceover format and can be purchased through amazon.com and www.excelinlearning.com.
