David Resnick & Associates is Proud to Announce the 2019 Winners of the Annual Veterans Grant Contest

David Resnick & Associates is pleased to announce the winners of the firm’s 2019 Veterans Grant Contest.

Each year, the New York personal injury law firm recognizes the sacrifices that veterans have made for our country by awarding cash grants to men and women who have served in the U.S. armed forces.

At David Resnick & Associates, our motto is “On Your Side, Fighting for You.” It also applies to veterans. The attorneys at David Resnick & Associates fight for accident victims to receive fair compensation for injuries. Our nation’s service members fight to protect everyone.

Each year, the law firm awards three prizes. This year, the attorneys could not select just one third-place winner and are awarding two third place prizes.

The David Resnick veterans grant winners are as follows:

1st Place: Huralain Mohamed, US Army

2nd Place: James Johnson, US Army

3rd Place Tie: Chris Moon, US Army

3rd Place Tie: Connor Knight, US Army

The first-place grant contest winner, Huralain Mohamed, submitted a great essay for the contest. In it, she mentions that one of her intentions if she were to win, is to use 100% of the grant funds towards the illustration and publication costs of a semi-autobiographical children’s coding & STEM book.

Currently, she is writing about a G.I. Jane who learns computer science and how to code. Huralain had a very insightful and educational message in which she mentions the importance of exposing children and teenagers to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) at a young age. Computer science draws upon all of these fields of study. Early exposure to a STEM curriculum is the best way to interest children in computer technology.

James Johnson, who received the second-place prize, talks about his experience joining the military and the fear that he might not make it home alive. “When you join the military, you know there may come a time where you have to combat terrorism, and there is a possibility you might not make it back alive,” he wrote.

Johnson mentioned that this is the ultimate sacrifice that you willingly accept when you volunteer to join the military. It’s a sacrifice that affects not only a service member, but his or her family as well.

Chris Moon and Connor Knight who came in joint third place for the grant contest. Chris proudly talked about his life and his main goal of serving and giving back to a country that has given so much to him and his family.

Connor Knight wrote in his essay that he will use the grant money for his immediate future by furthering his chances of academic success.

David Resnick & Associates is privileged to assist these deserving veterans and wish them all success in the future.
